The HORNET 3 is a versatile hybrid solution that can accommodate both regular bikes and e-bikes. It can carry 2 e-bikes with ample space between them, or a combination of 1 e-bike and 2 regular bikes, or up to 3 regular bikes.

Basic Ergonomics

The HORNET 3 is a strong, stable, and easy-to-use rack designed for transporting e-bikes. Its wide wheel supports can fit most regular bike sizes and tire widths.

Key Features of the HORNET 3

Assembly: The HORNET 3 is easy to assemble, even though it comes unassembled. Simply attach the wheel support frame to the base with 6 screws, install the light support with 2 more screws, and secure the license plate. Fit the rack onto the tow ball—no tools required—and you're ready to go!

Fitting to the Car: When you first place the HORNET 3 on the tow ball, it supports itself and won’t fall. Tighten the knob until it's secure, then lock it. BUZZRACK carriers meet the stringent XPR-18-904-4 standard and include an anti-sway tensioner. Two or three turns of the handle usually suffice. Holding the Bike: Position the bike on the wheel support, then adjust the clamp by sliding it along the vertical frame to find the best fit for your bike. Clamp the frame, secure the wheels with ratchet straps, and lock the clamps.

Lighting System: The HORNET 3 features either a 7-pin or 13-pin lighting system, depending on the market. Adapters for 7-pin or 13-pin connections are available separately.

Tilting Function: Tilting is simple and well-balanced, even with a full load. The HORNET 3 sits high on the tow ball, preventing the lights from scraping the road. The tilt mechanism uses the bike's weight to return the platform to level. However, tall vertical tailgates (e.g., VW Transporter T5 and T6) cannot be opened while the carrier is in use.

Other Features and Specifications

Bike and E-Bike Compatibility: The wheel holders fit most wheelbases (excluding tandems), including small children’s bikes. The long, rubber-padded straps secure tires up to 4” wide. Tighten with the straps and use the quick release to loosen. The lockable frame arms can attach to any part of the bike frame or seat post, and can be locked using the same key as the tow ball attachment.

Tow Ball Fitting: The patented conical fitting is compatible with all tow balls, including bolt-on tow balls that do not meet standard neck length or ball diameter. It locks securely to the tow ball.

High Mount: The HORNET 3 sits high on the tow ball, clear of speed bumps and steep ramps, such as those found on ferries.

Build Quality: The build quality, including tube bending, welding, rust proofing, and painting, is exceptional. The carrier is designed to feel solid and reliable. All necessary tools are included, and all parts are replaceable if damaged.

Additional Accessories: A loading ramp is available separately. The maximum weight capacity depends on the tow bar nose weight, so ensure you don't exceed this limit before use. Requires 65mm clearance from the center of the tow ball to the rear of the vehicle.

Compatibility: Not suitable for trailers, campers, or RVs.
